You may be surprised to hear&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;that many were downright positive.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;Sure there were a few comments like. . .&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;Our Country is going to H--- In a Hand basket.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;I’ve lost 200K in this financial meltdown.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;They were few and far between.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;What excites and challenges me are the majority&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;who see this time as an invitation to rediscover- - -&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;*What is really important, Love, Family, Friends.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;*Reassess our work ethic.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;*The challenge of being creative in all aspects of&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;our lives not just business.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;*To start something new or change directions &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;where we usually go straight.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;*A willingness to learn Something New.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial; font-weight: bold;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;*Sharing resources on many different levels.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;Many people are talking about their New Year &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;Resolutions and how this year they are different&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;than the last few years. One person said “The &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;goals are not new this year, &lt;b style=""&gt;But&lt;/b&gt; they are broken&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;into smaller more manageable changes. And I&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;am keeping them.” Considering we are going into&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt; the 4th week of January and some people don’t&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;even make their resolutions stick a week that’s&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;doing OK.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;So how do we make this most of this overall&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;positive attitude?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;b style=""&gt;Share It&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;Be a generous spirit and give a smile, a hug, a&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;handshake, a true complement or a creative &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;suggestion to other business people, family&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;too. That their negativity&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;actually repels others?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;People respond positively to optimists.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;Optimists typically maintain higher levels of &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;subjective well-being during times of stress &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;than do people who are less optimistic.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;In contrast, pessimists are likely to react to &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;stressful events by denying that they exist or &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" class="MsoNormal"&gt;by avoiding dealing with problems. in the last few months and you will notice that&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;studies have been showing up in regards to&lt;b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Genetically Modified Foods.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;u1:p&gt;&lt;/u1:p&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;The term GM foods or GMOs&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;(genetically-modified organisms) is most&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;commonly used to refer to crop plants&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;created for human or animal consumption&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;using the latest molecular biology&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;techniques. These plants have been&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;modified in the laboratory to&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;enhance desired traits such as increased&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;resistance to herbicides&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;or improved nutritional content.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;The enhancement of desired traits has traditionally been&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;undertaken through breeding, but conventional plant&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;breeding methods can be very time consuming and are&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;often not very accurate. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.csa.com/discoveryguides/gmfood/gloss.php?SID=n9d7p42lqu191c2a5tb8dej840#gee" target="glossary" return=""&gt;&lt;span style=""&gt;Genetic engineering&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;, on the&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;other hand, can create plants with the exact desired&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;trait very rapidly and with great accuracy. For&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;example, plant geneticists can isolate a &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.csa.com/discoveryguides/gmfood/gloss.php?SID=n9d7p42lqu191c2a5tb8dej840#gen" target="glossary" return=""&gt;&lt;span style=""&gt;gene&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt; responsible&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;for drought tolerance and insert that gene into a&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;different plant. Not only can genes be&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;transferred from one plant to another, but genes&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt; from non-plant organisms also can be used.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;The best known example of this is the use of B.t. genes&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;in corn and other crops. B.t., or &lt;i&gt;Bacillus thuringiensis&lt;/i&gt;, is&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;a naturally occurring bacterium that produces crystal&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;proteins that are lethal to insect larvae. B.t. crystal&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;protein genes have been transferred into corn, enabling&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;the corn to produce its own pesticides against insects&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;such as the European corn borer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;On the surface getting rid of a pest that destroys tons&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;of grain sounds like a winning situation. People move here from all over, hoping&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;and trying to conceive a precious baby. And many&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;parents are blessed. These trained men and women&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;keep up to date on all the medical fertility studies from&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;around the world in order to help those desperate for a&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;child of their own.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal" style=""&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Georgia;"&gt;But these medical people are not in the news. Brain damage from multiple small strokes, which can occur from narrowing or blocked arteries in the brain, are often the cause of VCI.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;An overview of the disease, published in the December issue of Mayo Clinic Women's HealthSource, notes that people can greatly reduce their risk of developing the disease by lowering their blood pressure, quitting smoking, and keeping diabetes and cholesterol levels under control.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;VCI shares Alzheimer's symptoms such as confusion, agitation, language and memory problems, and unsteady gait and falls. However, the first symptom of VCI usually is the declining ability to organize thoughts or actions. Family members may have something to say too. A multi grain roll instead of dinner roll, or a sandwich on dark rye, or even air popped corn instead of chips can increase fiber and nutrients.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another easy to make change is adding good supplements to your daily nutrient intake. A multi-vitamin may help balance out foods that are grown in depleted soils or even poor food choices. Of course, there can be too much of a good thing. It’s important not to go overboard with vitamins. While a multivitamin can help fill some of the gaps in a less than optimal diet, too much can be harmful.
